Aspire not to have more but to be more – St Oscar Romero

Week 4

Some lovely sunshine to fill our week this week which means we have been enjoying our outdoor space. Plenty of team work and co- operation when playing with the water tray, creating slides for the ducks from the guttering! They have also been busy using our outdoor role play area, developing narratives and listening to each other's ideas.

Our drawing club this week has been 'You're not a proper pirate, Sydney Green'. This has prompted lots of pirate play both inside and out; making treasure maps and designing flags. Our fine motor Friday also followed this theme when we created pirate hats and parrots.

In our understanding of the world sessions we discussed old buildings and how we know they are old using "A house that once was" as our text. This is a lovely story based on two children finding an old abandoned house. Willow Class were very creative suggesting who might have lived there previously. We used the illustrations of the book to inspire our line drawings of old houses and painted them in the same style as the book.

Our thanks go to Joel's Grandma who was our mystery reader this week and also told us of her powerlifting hobby- the children were very impressed!
