Monday 11th January

Good morning! I hope you had a good weekend.  If you haven't been on the blog yet, do that now. :)  You never know what's awaiting you!

Fitness

Let's start the day with our old friend, Joe Wicks, for some fitness training.  If you want to do this live it starts at 9am, or you can come back to it later.

4 Operations / Number Club Homework

As it's Monday morning, it's time to mark our maths homework from the last week of term.  Choose the document you need and mark the homework.

You can use the Padlet below to tell me your scores and although I will see them, I won't 'approve' them, so that your scores are kept private. :)

Then, take a look at this week's maths homework.  Answers will be published next week.

Maths

To give White Rose (the makers of the home-learning videos) time to create the fractions videos for year 5, I have decided to pop in two weeks of 'other' learning outcomes, which we were going to have been covering next term.  This should make things a bit easier for you all to follow.

Over the next two weeks, Year 5 will be covering 'perimeter and area' and Year 6 will have one week learning about 'position and direction' and one week learning about 'area'.  Of course, Year 6 can also do the Year 5 lessons as well as their own, however it would be better for Year 5 to wait until next year to do the Year 6 lessons.

Year 5

LO: To measure perimeter

Use the video (or the PowerPoint slides if you prefer) to guide you through the lesson, completing the questions as directed.  Mark your work using the answer sheet then have a go at the True or False question.

Year 6

LO: To use co-ordinates in the first quadrant

Starting you off gently with a recap lesson.  Use the video (or the PowerPoint slides if you prefer) to guide you through the lesson, completing the questions as directed.  Mark your work using the answer sheet then have a go at the True or False question.

RE

Finishing off time

You have some time today to finish off the work set by Mrs Dixon on Friday.

Spanish

LO: To describe location using 'estar'

Use the video to guide you through the lesson.

  1. You will practise some pronunciation of the sound 'a' and there are pictures to help you remember what the words mean.
  2. Then there is some vocabulary revision both with and without a word bank.
  3. Introduction to 'estar' (means 'to be' when talking about a location) and 'esta' (means 'is' when talking about a location)
  4. Map activity using the vocabulary

At this point you could choose to stop the lesson, or for further challenge you can carry on!

PE / fitness

This term, the team at PAS (Peak Active Sports) are creating a range of fitness videos which we will be sharing with you on our PE days.  They will be offering Free Online activities for the rest of this half term on their YouTube channel.  There will be two videos per day, one is Steve doing '5 minutes of fitness' and the other will be led by either Mark, Sam, Alex, Joe or Luke, doing  'Skills for 5'.
