Aspire not to have more but to be more – St Oscar Romero

Week 3

Another lovely week in Willow, if a little bit chillier! Our understanding the world story this week was, 'Old Bear'. The children have loved this book and have been busy using the picture prompts to order the story and recall what came next. We discussed the characters in the story and wrote a description of our favourite. We also had the opportunity to look at some old toys. We explored how they were different to modern toys and discussed the materials they were made from. The children were really excited to explore the toys and used some lovely language to describe them. We drew them using charcoal looking closely and trying to add detail.

We also had a visit from our local CCSO's to tell us how to be safe whilst on the roads. We learnt how to cross a road safely and learn the 'Stop, Look, Listen' song to help us remember this.

In RE we learnt about how God wants us to help one another. We heard the story of St Nicolas who was kind to people but didn't look for recognition for this. We thought about a 'secret kindness mission' that we could do in class or at home such as hanging up a coat if it's on the floor or offering to open another persons snack.

As always, the children have loved Mr Tweedy's PE sessions and every week he has noticed how their skills are improving including teamwork and listening skills- well done Willow Class!
