Art

Mother's Day Artwork

For Mother's Day, we focused on Happy Memories which we have and portrayed these through art. We had to think about the detail of the picture as well as how we wanted to add colour: paint, pastels or coloured pencils.

Portraits

We studied portraits. To begin the first lesson, we drew what we thought we looked like. Then we learned about proportions: the difference in one hour was tremendous! After spending time using our sketchbooks to practise eyes, noses and mouths, we then drew a final portrait for the wall.

Egyptian Portraits

We studied some artwork from Ancient Egypt and found that in portraits the body was facing forwards but the head was looking to the side. We created our own portraits, thinking especially about Egyptian make up and jewellery. We also used a paper staining technique to make our paper look like papyrus, which is what the Egyptians would have painted onto.
