Our Remembrance Day Reflection
In addition to observing the two minute silence at 11 o’clock we held our own reflection on what we are remembering and offered thanks for all of the soldiers; both past and present, who have fought to keep peace in our world. 🌎
Completing our Chosen People
We completed our watercolour modern art images of our favourite ‘Chosen People’ story and reflected on why we liked the story and what message we can take into our own lives. We also thought about any ‘Big Questions’ we had about the stories.
Reviewing our work on ‘Chosen People’ and illustrating and describing which story was our favourite and why.
Here are our Year 1 children illustrating theirs on our new Purple Mash software on the laptops. Year 2 are examining our art pictures to illustrate and paint their favourite.
We remember how special Mary is during the month of October and discuss what the rosary beads are.
Daniel and the Lions
Our third ‘Chosen People’ area of learning was the story of Daniel and the lions. We re-enacted the story through drama frieze frames which we then brought to life and we used our roles to say what the character we were playing might have been thinking or saying and how they would be feeling. We did an amazing job as you can see from the photographs below… 🦁
Chosen People
We created triptychs inspired by different modern art pictures we looked at following hearing the story of how Moses was chosen and protected by God. We chose words linked to the story to frame our art work and then wrote senses poems; imagining that we were there, watching, from amongst the reeds…🌾
God Chooses Abraham
Our first Chosen Person story from the Old Testament is about Abraham. We each created a lift the flap story board to explain what Abraham did and why. ⭐️
We Join Together in Prayer
We reflected on the reading from Isaiah where we are reminded to use our gifts and talents; to let our light shine for all to see. We also spoke about speaking to God in prayer; to find moments in our day to thank him, to say sorry or to ask for his help and guidance. We also spoke about letting our worries see the light too; hand them over to God. We then made time for us all to offer a prayer; either spoken to share or in the silence of our hearts.
Chosen by God Self Portraits
As we studied our images in the mirror and compared our similarities and differences to our friends, we reflected on how we are unique, special and given special gifts and talents by God. We asked the question, ‘who has God chosen me to be?’ Our portraits and our responses can be seen adorning our classroom wall to remind us each and every day of how special and chosen we are and that God asks us to follow him every day.🌟
