Judaism

Mr Bloom from Yehurun Synagogue in Cheadle came into school to talk to us about Judaism. We learnt about the feast of Pesach, the Passover, and how Jewish people celebrate the passing from slavery into freedom and had the chance to try Matzoh, unleavened bread. We discussed the common heritage between Judaism and Christianity and how Jesus was celebrating the Passover at the Last Supper. This has helped our understanding of other faiths and built tolerance to people of differing beliefs than our own.

World Down Syndrome Day

We learnt about disability and equality on World Down Syndrome Day. We wore odd socks to promote awareness. Socks are worn because they look like chromosomes. People with Down Syndrome have an extra chromosome.

Promoting Mutual Respect

We explored the ideas of diversity and equality, then created posters to promote them.
