Monday

Good morning to all our Beech families!

Well done for making it to week six of home learning, you have all been fantastic, showing dedication and enthusiasm to working from home! Only one week left before your well deserved half term holiday! This week we are keeping the same structure to our morning lessons but the afternoons will have a more relaxed feel, and it will be time to think about and revise our learning so far this year.

Beech Has Got Talent! smiley

We also have some exciting news, this Friday our Zoom meeting is going to be a little different! We are hoping that you are all going to be stars in 'Beech Has Got Talent'! Over this week we want you to think of a talent that you have, it could be; singing, dancing, football, telling jokes, or if you prefer just sharing your favourite piece of work from this half term. We would like you to practise this and be ready to perform for us all on Friday morning. We look forward to seeing you all then!

Todays lessons:

  • Spellings
  • Speed Sounds
  • Reading
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Don't forget to include some daily exercise too!
Before we get started we have yet more wonderful work to share with you. We have been overwhelmed with the quality and amount of work you have managed to do; working just as hard from home as you would at school. We are so proud of you all. You have all shown great persistence and resilience!heartlaugh

We loved this; Xavier's medal entitled; 'Sailing on a silver sea of creativity.'

And look at these monkey facts and model...and another stunning sunset!

Look at how busy Florence has been; her photos are on a slideshow! What a busy bee Florence!

Here is Arianna's creative self and beautiful sunset. Well done Arianna!

No matter what I have tried with Arianna's picture it wants to go sideways, but we can see it very well. Well done!smiley

Here is William's finished Safari Sunset. Great art work William!

And finally for today, here is Joesph's medal. It's so important that we keep smiling Joseph so well done for keeping your family's spirits high!

Spellings

I know the Year 1 spelling list was a very challenging one! They are Year 1 spellings but do seem really difficult! Just keep practising them alongside your new spellings. This week Year 1 children are on spelling set 33 and Year 2 are on spelling set 44.

Speed Sounds

Today the Set 2 sounds restart so your sound is 'ay' and the Set 3 sound is 'are'. Please watch the following videos:

  • Speed Sound Lesson
  • Spellings
  • Reading Longer Words (ou/ow)
  • Hold a Sentence

Well done to all of you for continuing to watch these videos. They really do help us become excellent readers and super spellers!

Reading

We have been so busy reading each week we have now read most of the Read, Write Inc. books available on Oxford Owl! Therefore, this week we have got a book from a different series which is all about animals! This is a book for both Year 1 and Year 2 children. Our book is called 'Beast Feast'.  Year 1 children may need a little more help reading this book with a grown up but I think it is a book that you will all enjoy. Please share the vocabulary and the tricky words before reading the text.

I hope you enjoy this book and that you find out lots more facts about animals.

Maths

Year 1

Today you are learning about representing numbers to 50. You are still thinking about tens and ones but today as part  whole models. You can still draw or improvise by drawing the rods of tens and units or by using pencils as your tens, and for your ones  you could use sweets, counters, lego bricks or something similar. Watch the video and then complete the worksheet.  I have also included your challenge cards for the week for those who are ready for an extra challenge!

Year 2

We are on our last lesson of  our unit learning about  multiplication and division. Our lesson today is about dividing by 10. Watch the video and then complete the worksheet.

It's good to keep practising your timetables, so as an extra today why not practise them by playing the 'Hit the Button' game.
