Thursday 25th June

Good  morning Year 1 and Year 2. We are united together today in our learning ... our Literacy and art activities are below for us all to enjoy.

Because the weather will be so warm, I am asking that Year 1's make sure  you are up to date with your 'My Maths' activites. Year 2's this is also your challenge, but you also have your problem solving pack to do some 'pick and mix activities' from. I will set a new activity on 'My Maths' tomorrow.

Wasn't it a hot day?blushAfter I made my videos last night I had a terrible headache so I'm feeling a little bit tired as I write this. sadI hope it makes sense!!! Apologies if not...

Our Literacy Activity

Today we are going to be writing for a 'real life' purpose... something we like to do when we are on holiday...writing a postcard to share with our friends and family how our holiday is going. Unfortunately we've not been able to do this for the past few months. But let us pretend to be Dougal and send a postcard to his cousin Bob (Man on the Moon)...

An introduction from me before I got my headache!wink

An introduction to our task...

Have a look at these photos from around the world written by Buttons the Bear. This file was too large for me to upload (as I had planned) and so I've had to take photos. The pictures are upside down because the idea is that you can print them out to make a postcard!

Postcards from around the world...

Notice how Buttons has followed the plan of...

  • Write about the day you are having in the present.
  • Talk about what you did and saw yesterday.
  • Explain what you plan to do tomorrow and how you feel.
I include below a postcard template that you can either print out or copy. I have printed Luca’s out and stuck it on a piece of A4 cartridge paper because postcards usually have a photograph or an artist’s painting of the place you are visiting. So you can paint a scene on the plain side...

Remember we are writing to Dougal’s cousin Bob! I’ve given you his address on the postcard above...

Here is the postcard template you cam print or copy...

You can write about any day from Dougal's holiday... choose you favourite and then refer to two other events for what he did the day before and wgat he is looming forward to doing the next day. I would love to see these when they are done; either my email or video. I will have some videos to share with you tomorrow from your friends.smileyheart

A suggested afternoon activity …
