Earth Day 2024

We held a sustainable fashion show to commemorate Earth Day this year.

The children made their outfits using recycled materials and wrote their own commentary for their pieces.

United Kingdom and the Capital Cities

This term the children have been developing their knowledge of the United Kingdom. They have learnt the names of the four countries and the capital cities. The children have also learnt about the surrounding waters of the United Kingdom.

We have started to learn about the four countries in more detail.

England

The children learnt about the country England and the capital city, London. We studied pictorial maps of the country and discussed landmarks and other interesting items, such as food! We talked about the surrounding waters of the country and the location of landmarks using compass points. The children created oil pastel pictures of landmarks, wrote sentences and created flags. At the end of the lesson the children completed a quiz about the country.

Scotland

The children used maps of the United Kingdom to locate Scotland. They found the capital city, Edinburgh and found out about the different landmarks in the country. The children were very interested to learn about the Loch Ness Monster! They created postcards for Scotland considering landmarks, food and culture.
