Aspire not to have more but to be more – St Oscar Romero
Good morning everyone; I hope you are enjoying your learning so far this week and are looking forward to us being back together again next week. Some information about the next few days...
On Monday you will all be given a voucher which will entitle you to buy a special World Book Day book for £1.00 or you could use it to receive £1 off a book of your choice. These are the books available to purchase for £1.00.
The books are available from supermarkets, click and collect book stores and many book stores will accept them on reopening. I wonder which book you like the look of? I will be sharing videos from 3 of the authors throughout today...
Our Learning Today
World Book Week - Writing Activity
Hopefully we are all ready to start with our own books. Here are some super plans I have seen to get us in the mood...
Speedy sounds with Rosie
*** If you are writing your story today you do not have to do this session today. You will be using the sound grids to help with your spellings and so you are putting your previous learning into practice. If you have not been able to plan your writing activity do keep up with Rosie to keep your brain warmed up!
Our Maths Learning Today...
Year 1
Today we continue our work on measuring. Yesterday you were measuring with cubes. Today you will be introduced to measuring with a ruler. If you have a ruler at home have a look at it and see what you notice, then watch our first teaching video for today...
Year 2
Yesterday you were counting the vertices on shapes. Today you will be asked to draw some 2D shapes. Thankfully there are squared boxes to help you on the worksheets; I thought we may have needed squared paper! Good luck.
Our afternoon book linked art activity
Good afternoon everyone! Here is Jonny Duddle, who wrote ‘The Jolly Rogers’ pirate book series and ‘Gigantosaurus’ book talking about his £1.00 book ‘Dino Spot.’ Jonny illustrates his own stories too, so you will hear how he collects his ideas. He draws a triceratops so you may like to pause his video and join in. OR I have a dinosaur drawing tutorial from illustrator Rob Biddulph.
Enjoy listening to Jonny’s story ‘Gigantosaurus’ too. 😀🌟
And... there is also a competition to design a book gift card. I include the sheet on which you will draw your design. Perhaps illustrate your favourite book characters! Good luck.
And here’s a competition we can enter to design a book token.
Print out the sheet to see the size of the book token. You will design it onto this. If you bring your entry into school I will send it from school together with any others. 🤩
