Aspire not to have more but to be more – St Oscar Romero

Tuesday 7th July

Good morning to you all,

I hope that you are all well and ready for another day of learning. This week we are enjoying travelling into space and today you finally get to listen and read the story of Bob the Man on the Moon! Start your day with your phonics work and then you have some reading and maths work to do.

We will soon be saying goodbye to our Year 2 Galileo children and in September you will be moving into Keller class. Mrs Smith would love to meet you all so she is arranging a Zoom meeting for this afternoon. For more information about this please log into the school blog.

Phonics

Your Read, Write Inc. lesson today focuses on learning and reading the sound 'er'. Complete the Speedy Sounds lesson and the Spellings. It would be great if you watch the Longer Words video focusing on the sound 'ar' and also the Read and Hold a Sentence 2 task. All these videos are perfect for becoming a more fluent and confident reader whilst developing into a super speller and writer.

Today you can listen and read the story 'Man on the Moon'. This is one of my favourite children's stories, I think you will love it too! Go the the StPauls videos page to listen to the story read by myself. I've also attached a youtube video as I thought you would like to read the story yourself. Put the video on mute and pause each page so you have time to read it. Once you have read the story complete the VIPERS comprehension questions. You may need to keep referring back to the book to find the answers. Remember to answer the questions in full sentences and if you aren't printing out the sheet then write the answers in your Home Learning book. Later in the week you will do some writing activities based on this wonderful book with Mrs Davies. smiley

Continues to look at adding two numbers together. Today we revise what we do when we can exchange 10 units for one more ten  when using the column method. You may think this video starts off looking quite easy but the column addition revision as the video goes on is very important. yes
