Reception:
As your child completes the activities please use Tapestry to send observations to us we will look forward to seeing their fantastic work!
Year 1:
Please use the class email to send any work to us, again we will look forward to seeing all the wonderful things they are doing.
Phonics:
Through the Autumn term we have been focusing on the Set 1 sounds and learning to blend these sounds to read words. Everyday there will be a link to the Read Write Inc videos to recap set 1 speed sounds and word time. If your child is secure with all Set 1 sounds you can also watch the Set 2 sounds lesson too.
Reading
We use the great resource of oxford owl to access reading whilst we are not in school. You will need to login or create an account to access this website but it is free and is a great way of accessing ebooks. We will be using this site to continue our reading activities and you can also use this site to choose books to read at home.
Today we have put the links to two books. If your child is still learning the Set 1 sounds and working towards blending words please select the sound blending book and if your child is more confident please choose the Red ditty book. Whichever book you choose please encourage your child to use their sounding out skills to read the sounds and blend the sounds to read the words. Read the book through, you could then choose a favourite page to talk about.
Please watch the session 1 video and then complete the follow up activity on the sheet below.
Please watch the video and complete the worksheet. Today you only need to complete questions 1-3.
Topic activities
This half term our topic is called 'Jambo' we will be learning the story 'Handa's surprise' and finding out about the country, people and animals of the African country Kenya. Each week we will put a range of topic based activities on our separate topic page (the link is below) we hope you will enjoy picking one of these activities each day or maybe completing a few at a time over the week and coming on our African adventure with us! We have put a little taster activity on for tomorrow but please keep checking this page as we will put more activities on as the week goes on.
