LO: To vary sentence openers

Today, I would like you to think about how to vary sentence openers and generally make sure you are writing varied sentences.

1. Start with the game that will get you thinking about varied sentences.
2. Now, use the PowerPoint to revise different types of sentence openers.
3. Now, look at the PDF sheet.  There is a selection of different sentence openers and at the bottom a collection of words that describe those opener types.  Some of them were shown on the PowerPoint...can you match the sentences to the type of opener used.  If you have any questions, post them on the Padlet below and I will answer them as soon as I see them.
4. Take a look at your Door portal story.  Check your writing to make sure you have used a range of sentence types and varied sentence openers. 
5. Read your story aloud to your parents and make any changes that you notice while you're reading.
6. Now, you have improved your story, why don't you type it up and email it to me to read?  Next week we will be staring a new unit of work.

LO: To understand the process we will go through when transitioning to secondary school

At 2pm, we will be having a LIVE Zoom lesson to begin our transition work, which will help prepare us for the move to secondary school.  If you are not able to join the lesson, I will send details for an alternative time next week.

We will play a couple of circle-time games and I will show you where I am saving resources from your secondary schools.  I will also explain the 'transition booklet', that I would like you to work on during the rest of this term.
