Reading

Today we have some new books for you. If your child has been reading the blending books please have a go at the first ditty sheet. Start at the top of the sheet and point to each letter sound in turn asking your child to say the sound. Then have a go at reading the 'green words' -words that can be sounded out and the 'red words' like tricky words that just have to be learnt. Then read the ditty. Each Ditty is just one page long. You can help your child with any of the words they are finding tricky.

If you have been reading the Ditty sheets. Today I would like you to move on to the Red Ditty Books. Each of these books has three stories in, so just read 'Ditty 1 today.' There are some helpful tips at the beginning of the book about how to use the book, however it is similar to the Ditty sheets. There is a speed sound practise, then 'green and red' words and the story. You can take it in turns with your child to read a sentence each if you like.
