Aspire not to have more but to be more – St Oscar Romero
This week we are focusing on transport in the sky! This includes aeroplanes and hot air balloons but we are aware there are other modes of transport which fly too! You can pick some of the activities below to complete but if you have your own ideas for activities then that's great too. Remember to share what you have been doing either by email (galileo@stpauls.cheshire.sch.uk) or the Galileo blog.
History
This week it is about the history of flight (lesson 4). Below you will find the lesson plan, slides and resources. You have the worksheets in your home learning pack but on the lesson plan you will notice that there are additional optional tasks which you can pick. Do the tasks you fancy and have fun!
Music
If you a fancy a journey by plane … or hot air balloon to Africa, then imagine you are there by creating your own Samba musical band.
Don't worry if you don't have any instruments, you can use common items from your kitchen!!! Invite your family to take part. This ideas was sent to my by my friend who has a very musical family! She sent me this which made me giggle; and she was happy for me to share it with you.
Science
As we are thinking of flight; you might like to look at this BBC video on Rockets and being an astronaut.
Extend your learning on materials by exploring these BBC Bitesize videos.
1) On materials which dissolve in water.
2)On the effects of heating and cooling on different materials.
Art Activity
This art activity asks us to think about our life as a journey. We are encouraged to think about how we have already grown and changed and to think about what you might like to do when you are older. There is a 'train' template you can print out and use below or you may like to paint a path or road to symbolise your journey so far and moving forward into the future.
