We then used these maps to create our own street maps of London. Year 1's picked out their favourite landmarks and year 2's were challenged to make them as detailed as possible. Well done for the keys you made to go with your maps too!

We have been studying a variety of maps of London, looking at the famous landmarks, how they are shown and how close they are to the River Thames. We discussed how maps show us the right direction to take when we want to find a particular place or destination. We also looked at how the maps were labelled and at the use of providing a key.

Using maps of the United Kingdom we located the four countries that are a part of our nation. Year 2's also looked to plot the capital cities of England, Scotland, Wales and Nothern Ireland. Could we also find and label London, the capital city of England.
