Aspire not to have more but to be more – St Oscar Romero

Tuesday 23rd June

Good morning to you all,

Welcome to another day of learning! We hope that you are finding the resources helpful. It's been lovely to see how the children who are back in school are so familiar with the resources we use online, they seem to see Rosie as one of their teachers!

Here is the plan for today:

Phonics

Continue to learn your sounds, words and spellings by completing the following 4 Read, Write Inc. lessons:

  • Set 3 Speed Sound Lesson - today's sound you will review is 'ure'
  • Set 3 Spelling Lesson
  • Reading Red Words 2
  • Reading Longer words - you will read Green words focusing on the sounds 'oi/oy'.

Each video is only 10/15 minutes long and they are available to watch from 9.30am. You can watch these anytime within 24 hours.

Reading

Today I would like you to read the story 'Harry Saves the Ocean'. This is a book you can probably read yourself, with a little help. I've included a youtube video of the book but I would suggest muting the sound and pausing each page to read it yourself. Once you have read it answer the VIPERS comprehension questions about the story. Remember that you may have to read the story more than once to answer some of the questions.

Harry Saves the Ocean with Audio

This is a story all about a mouse called Harry, who wants to make a difference in the world.

VIPERS comprehension questions

Maths

Today's you have another problem solving lesson which doesn't have the usual PowerPoint as part of the lesson. The problem solving questions today focus on place value and measurement. I have included two short PowerPoint presentations again, which are  'warm up' tasks, to get your brains into gear for your challenges. The answers are included so please check once you have completed the questions.
