Wednesday 22nd April

***Wednesday 22nd April***New home learning packs are available to be collected from outside of the school office this afternoon between 12.30pm and 4.00pm***

There is a star detailing this and our plans for the next few weeks on our main class page entitiled,'Home Learning Folders Collect on 22.4.20.'

Good morning year 2's, I hope you are all well. I have had a 'gremlin' in my technology and my page has kept crashing whilst setting the 'Year 1' star page. I therefore hope you don't mind me asking you to refer to the year 1 star page today as most of your work is the same. The main differences will be your maths work which is detailed below and some extra proof reading I would like you to do on your Mr Benn stories. In summary...

Our tasks today

  •  Jo Wicks PE
  • Collective Worship- see year 1 page for details
  • English - writing and grammar- see year 1 page and additional notes below
  • Maths - see below
  • Science - see year 1 page

English Writing and grammar additional notes for year 2

Just as with the year 1's, if you haven't quite finished writing your Mr Benn adventure, please go back to it today.

Read through what you have done so far to 'proof read' it. This is something I will be asking you to do more from now on as it is an important year  2 skill. Sometimes we call it 'purple polishing' where you can use a purple pen or pencil to add any words you have missed out, to correct spelling you spot that are incorrect or to add maybe an extra adjective or two. Using the different colour then shows me your changes.

When you have done this, please write your ending based on boxes 9 and 10 of your story plan.

You will explain where the shopkeeper comes from to take Mr Benn back to the changing room and what souvenir he keeps from his adventure.

**You will see an example on the year 1 page.

For your grammar task, you are also looking at exclamation marks and question marks. However, I would like you to do a slightly different task on the espresso website. Below are the details of the video and activities I would like you to do.

Also, do tune into the set 3 phonics session as you did on Monday and Tuesday if you can. Most of you are great at recognising the sounds but seeing the words with the different variations in making the same sound will help you with your spellings. It's a very useful 10 minute exercise.

Follow the link on the year 1 page.

Go to English- grammar and punctuation- sentence level- then scroll down to recognising statements, questions, exclamations and commands

Maths

A good maths site you may like to sign up to is 'The Maths Factor'. I signed Luca up and it did take a week to receive a log in but there are videos and activities to support our learning. It is also free at the moment.

Our learning today is understanding that when we split an object or set of objects into two, this is halving. Please complete lesson 3 from our powerpoint.

Choose which chilli challenge you would like to complete. Challenge yourself with the challenge cards at the end.

Science - please see year 1 page instructions

Have a great day and I hope you enjoy your learning.
