Key Stage 1 to 2

During the second half of the Summer Term in Key Stage 1, the children begin a transition programme aimed to support their transition into Key Stage 2 and ensure that it goes as smoothly as possible. To assist with this transition the children make numerous visits to the next class and engage in a range of activities.

The children also complete a project about themselves which will be continued during the first week of their new class and then displayed. This allows them to express any concerns they have, their strengths and perceived weaknesses and any other information that is important to them for their new teacher to know.

The class teachers meet regularly over the last few weeks of the Summer Term to discuss each child and the steps forward for all children commencing Year Three.
