Art and Design

Colour in Chaos- During the Spring term we have been exploring colour and how different artists used colour in their pieces. We began our unit by reviewing the primary colours and using them to make secondary colours. We then explored creating different shades, tints and hues by mixing colours and adding different pigments. We looked at a variety of different artists such as Sonia Delaunay, Mark Rothko, and Jackson Pollack. We observed the different ways they used colour, brush strokes and shape to express themselves.

Fire and Fantasy- In Art we have been looking at dragons. we made dragon masks using a variety of different media such as fabric and different coloured paper. The children layered the different materials to create the impression of dragon scales. We then created dragon's eyes out of salt dough. We had lots of fun making the salt dough, although it was rather messy! After baking our dragon's eyes we then painted them using watercolours.
