Aspire not to have more but to be more – St Oscar Romero

Week 1

Welcome back Willow class to what will be a busy and fun half term filled with exciting learning opportunities!

This week we have been looking at bonfire night and how to stay safe. The children have designed posters reminding people how to be safe as they enjoy bonfires and fireworks. We have also been busy creating firework pictures using salt and paint. The children had to carefully apply the paint using great hand eye co-ordination. We have also been learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. They heard how it is celebrated and made their own diva lamps out of clay. We decorated these with bright colours and sequins.

Our new RE topic is learning about the family of God. We discussed how we are part of different families, our class family, school family and home family. We also know that we are part of the family of God and are special and loved as unique individuals.

We began being 'autumn detectives' this week. We collected lots of leaves and used them to compare differences and similarities in colour, shape and size. We used pumpkin seeds to practise subitising and then used 5 frames to work out how many we had.
