Aspire not to have more but to be more – St Oscar Romero

Week 6

We have had a lovely week this week. The children are becoming much more independent in the environment and we can really see them applying their learning in their play!

We have used the text Suddenly! for our drawing club story this week. They have loved drawing and describing the wolf and thinking of ways that they could catch the wolf! It is great that children are beginning to hear some of the sounds they have learnt in our Read Write Inc sessions and are applying this in our drawing club sessions. We have also read the story Leaf Man. We have been out to collect leaves to make our own leaf man. We have used the leaves to practise our 'noticing' skills comparing size, type, colour and shape of the leaves.

We have been learning about numbers up to 4, recognising what these numbers are composed of to develop our number sense. We have used the stem sentence; 1 and 1 make 2, 1 and 1 and 1 make 3, 1 and 1 and 1 and 1 make 4. We have applied this practically collecting items from around our classroom.

In RE this week we have discussed how we can look after God's creation using the story '10 ways I can help the Earth'.
