Monday 27th April

Good morning to you all,

I hope that you enjoyed all your learning last week and that you have also had lots of time to play outside whilst we have had such lovely sunny weather. Thank you so much for keeping us updated with what you have been doing at home, both work which has been set and things you have chosen to do yourself. We really appreciate all the emails and blogs. Great work Galileo children and parents yes!

The plan for today:

Phonics and reading

As I mentioned last week the plans for phonics and reading each week will be very similar with the reading focus just being on a different book.

10am – watch live Set 2 Speed Sounds lesson.

10.30am - watch live Set 3 Speed Sounds lesson. Please remember to complete the spelling part of the lesson too.

Use the link to access the live Speed Sound lessons https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCo7fbLgY2oA_cFCIg9GdxtQ/featured

Read ‘Dragon Bay ’ OR ‘Greedy Tiger’. Remember to practise the sounds and read the Green and Red words before reading the story. The ebooks can be found at www.oxfordowl.co.uk.

Spellings

It's Monday, which means its time to have a little spelling test and start learning some new spellings! Please test your child on last weeks' spellings and set them a new set of spellings for this week. Remember to carry on practising any spellings your child struggled with previously. If you want your child to have an extra challenge use the words from the spelling lists in sentences.

Maths

Today's maths lesson is focusing on adding equal groups. Use the PowerPoint presentation lesson 5 to learn about adding equal groups. Then complete the worksheet in your pack. If you want more challenge then please download the worksheets below (2 and 3 star sheets). There is also an additional activity called 'adding group match up' if you want to keep busy!

History

For the next few weeks in history the focus will be on travel and transport. Today the focus is comparing modes of transport now and those in the past. Use the presentation and then complete the 1A worksheet (or 1B if you want more challenge).  Once completing the worksheet why not sort the transport picture cards into old and new. Then think of different ways to sort the cards using your own criteria, such as transport with or without wheels, transport with or without an engine, etc. The resources should be found in your new home learning packs but all the resources are available below if needed.

I hope you all have a fun day smiley
