Monday

Good morning to you all!

Well done to all our Beech families for your continued hard work. We were very pleased to announce our first children who have 100 Dojos on Friday! What a fantastic achievement smiley. Watch out for your certificate arriving, it will be going in the post box very soon! There will be some more announced over the next few days as many children are getting close to the 100 mark!

I hope that you have had fun playing out in the snow this weekend! I'm sure many of you will have been busy building snowmen and sledging!

Welcome to another week of home learning! You have your usual Monday lessons today:

  • Speed Sounds with Rosie
  • Reading
  • Spellings
  • Maths
  • Science

Don't forget to fit some exercise into your day, whether it's going out for a family walk or playing on your bike. You may also want to do exercise in the house so I have included a few other links which you may use throughout the day.

We have been blown away by the work you have been doing; as we look at your photos and study what you have included in your work,  the smile on our faces gets bigger and bigger. smiley We know how much you love seeing one another on our Zoom meetings, so here is a selection of the work you have sent to us. Enjoy!heart

I have chosen books for you this week about animals! Year 1 children your Read, Write Inc. fiction book is about a tortoise and Year 2 children your  non-fiction book is about a whale! What kind of animals are tortoises and whales?

The titles of the books are:

A Pet Tortoise

Save the Whale

This is your first day of reading so remember to spend time reading the  sounds, Green words and Red words at the beginning of the book.

Read, Write Inc. books

Spellings

It's spelling test time! Think carefully about the sounds as you do your test. You may find it helpful to use your 'Fred Fingers' to help you and you could also underline the 'Special Friends'. Once you have done your test have a look at your new spellings. Y1 children could potentially be on set 31 and Year 2 children on set 42, but do the set which you are up to. Remember to carry on practising any that you found tricky! You will find your sheet and the spelling list to download. I have also included the 'Complex Speedy Sound Chart'. Remember to use this whenever you are doing any writing activity, it helps us check we are using the correct grapheme when spelling words.

Maths

Year 1

Today you are thinking about subtraction. Watch the video and then complete the worksheet.

We have been getting lots of practise using the tens and ones frames and part-part whole model lately I loved Jack's way of doing this last week. He drew the tens frames and used pieces of pasta to help him with his maths! Well done Jack! Today you have a change, you are using the number line to count back.

If you want an extra challenge then there are some challenge cards to complete. These challenges are for all the maths lessons this week so print out and use as you wish. Please don't feel any pressure to complete these additional challenges, we are happy if you just complete the sheet.
