Maple

Welcome to Maple Class, St Paul's Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

At St Paul’s Nursery, we provide a caring and welcoming environment where children aged 2–4 learn through play, exploration and hands-on experiences. Our provision includes a balance of child-led and adult-led activities, allowing children to follow their interests while also being supported to develop new skills. We encourage children to feel confident to try new things and support them to persevere when challenges arise.

We place a strong focus on helping children become kind, caring and respectful individuals, supporting them to form friendships and develop the social skills they will need as they move on to school. We value the experiences and skills children bring with them from home and previous settings, supporting each child to develop at their own pace and build a positive attitude towards learning.

Our daily routine includes regular group times that help children feel secure and connected. In the morning, children take part in key group sessions with their key person, helping to build strong relationships and support individual development. In the afternoon, we come together as a whole class to share learning, such as Religious Education and activities that develop early maths and thinking skills.

We also take time to say a prayer together before lunchtime and again at the end of the day, helping children develop a sense of calm, reflection and community.

We believe outdoor learning is an important part of nursery life and spend lots of time learning and playing outdoors in all weathers, supporting children’s physical development, wellbeing and curiosity about the world around them.

Through our play-based curriculum and daily routines, we support children to make progress across all seven areas of learning, helping them develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for the next stage of their education.

At St Paul’s Nursery, children are taught and cared for by Miss Marshall, Mrs Bagshaw and Mrs Wolfendale, who work closely together to support every child’s learning and wellbeing.
