Week 3

We have busy scientists this week celebrating British Science week. We have completed experiments linked to our text The Three Little Pigs. We made houses from a variety of resources and materials and then tested them against the wolfs puff (a hairdryer!). We thought about what a fair test looks like and if we were to build our houses again what we would change and evaluated which materials were best for house building!

In maths Monday we looked at the composition of number, making one more and one less and matching numerals and amounts through games and activities. It is lovely to hear them using their mathematical vocabulary they have been taught and justifying their answers. "I know a 3 and a 2 makes 5, as I have 5 fingers and I have 3 here and 2 here" (whilst holding up his hand and indicating the groups)- great learning!

Our fine motor Friday continued on the 3 little pigs theme. We developed our scissor skills through using gummed paper to make houses, our drawing skills by learning how to draw pigs step by step and our creativity through our pig printing craft.

Our thanks to Mrs Downes (who used to be one of our midday supervisors) for being our mystery reader this week. She read 'Suddenly!' which is one of our favourites!

We also enjoyed watching Beech class assembly and listening to what they have been learning.
