Melting Part 2- in the second part of the lesson we conducted an investigation to answer the question ‘What would be the best country to sell in a hot country?’ We melted 3 different types of chocolate, dark, milk and white. We made sure we used the same amount of chocolate to ensure it was a fair test. We observed that the white chocolate melted first and the dark chocolate took the longest to melt. We found out that the white chocolate has higher levels of cocoa butter in it which has a lower melting point.

Melting- In this lesson we read ‘Chocolate’ by Michael Rosen and observed the changes that occurred to a chocolate button we held in our hand. We noticed that our body temperature affected how quickly the button melted and how much and how quickly we rubbed our hands together sped up this process.

Materials- This term we have been looking at different materials, naming them and investigating what purpose they are fit for. We have gone on a material safari around the classroom and looked at the everyday objects we use and named what materials they are made from. We have conducted lots of investigation to test which material would be the most reflective, absorbant and magnetic.
