Aspire not to have more but to be more – St Oscar Romero

Tuesday 7th July

Good morning to you all,

I hope that you are all well and ready for another day of learning. This week we are enjoying travelling into space and today you finally get to listen and read the story of Bob the Man on the Moon! Start your day with your phonics work and then you have some reading and maths work to do. This afternoon you can choose a lesson from the Topic page.

Phonics

Your Read, Write Inc. lesson today focuses on learning and reading the sound 'er'. Complete the Speedy Sounds lesson and the Spellings. It would be great if you watch the Longer Words video focusing on the sound 'ar' and also the Read and Hold a Sentence 2 task. All these videos are perfect for becoming a more fluent and confident reader whilst developing into a super speller and writer.

Reading

The children in school enjoyed reading the non fiction book 'A place in space: the moon' yesterday. There are many challenging words in this book and lots of new words to learn. Today I would like you to read the book again and then complete the questions at the back of the book.

Today you can read the story Man on the Moon. This is one of my favourite children's stories, I think you will love it too. Go the the StPauls videos page to listen to the story read by myself. I've also attached a youtube video of the story so that you can see the wonderful illustrations better and you may have a go reading the story yourself. Later in the week you will do some writing activities based on this book with Mrs Davies.
