Our learning today;

  •  Writing preaparation - To consider and illustrate the main differences between our lives and Lila's
  • Speed sounds with Rosie
  • Maths
  • Geography

Writing preparation - Thinking about and illustrating the main differences between Lila's life and our life. smiley

Over the past week we have started to look at Lila's way of life.

Her home

Her surroundings/ village
Her clothes and jewellery
What jobs she has to do
The weather/ climate

Now we don't hear about whether or not Lila goes to school. but all children between the ages of 6 and 13 are expected to go to school. However, for children in villages like Lila's a school may be a long distance away and so Lila probably doesn't go to school very regularly.

Watch the video below to learn more about life for a child like Lila from Kenya and  learn even more about how your life would be very different to a child from a village like Lila's...

How she spends her days- does she go to school?

Your task

From the ideas above and any you have learnt from the video above, choose 4 differences to illustrate between your life and Lila's.

For example, you might choose to compare your homes, your village, the climate/ weather, schools...

You can use the worksheet below  or watercolours on plain art paper. Think about the colours you are using and think about how you would describe each difference ready to write about them tomorrow.

I would love to see your illustrations when they are done!smileyheart

Our Maths Learning Today

Year 1 Maths

Today we continue our work on addition which we do by  making ten and using our number bonds.

Spr1.3.2 - Add by making 10

Adding by making 10

Number 3, the part whole model is quite confusing in this context so concentrate on questions 1 and 2.

If you fancy a little extra, fill in the cars and numbers to complete your bonds to 10.

Year 2 Maths

Today we begin work on our 2 times table. We will be using the  x sign to show sets of 2. For example, 5 x 2 means 5 sets of 2.

If 5 x 2 =10, remember it can be written the other way round; 10= 5 x 2

Watch the teaching video below...

Spr2.2.3 - 2 times-table

Have a pencil and paper ready/ drawing board to join in...

You should all cope well up to question 3. Carry on if you are feeling confident or would like to have a go!smiley
