Geography

Some of the Year sixes have been doing an independent project- this group chose to find out about volcanoes and then made their own.

We used Google maps to choose visitor attractions around Poynton and started planning our routes from home. It was so much fun finding each other’s homes!

We have been learning to use World, European and UK atlases to find out information such as map symbol meanings, continents, European countries and cities in the UK. We also learned about lines of longitude and latitude and time zones.

We have been learning about South America, in particular the Amazon rainforest.

We learned about how Rudyard Lake has been used since its creation as a reservoir and how its use as a tourist and leisure spot has changed over time.
