Monday 30th March

Good morning Year 1 children and your parents!

I hope you all enjoyed your first week of learning from home and that you are all staying safe and well. Here is your tasks for today:

Spellings

In your purple folder you should have a list of spellings with an indication of what the next set of spellings are. Please write these on the spelling grid and then practise them this week. To challenge yourself, why not practise writing the words in your spelling list in sentences.

Reading

We are now getting closer to Easter so I thought it would be a good idea to learn about this special time of the year. In your folders you should have a set of comprehension sheets. Please find the one about Easter (see picture below). Read the text and then answer the questions. As most of the answers to the questions can be found in the text you read it would be great to underline the information as you find it. Then get a grown up to mark your answers. In your folders you also have some comprehension sheets called 'Reading Comprehension Three Key Words'. Please use these as you wish. Don't forget about the RWI lesson which is live at 10.30am each day too. It would be great to access this daily to keep learning your sounds and words. Use this link to watch the live lesson;

Maths

Today you are starting a new unit of work about place value. You will be learning about ordering numbers (0-50). Work through the presentation (lesson 1 found below). Then write numbers on post it notes or pieces of paper (0-50). Choose 3 random numbers and place them in order from smallest to largest. Repeat with different numbers. Then repeat by choosing 4 numbers and then 5 numbers. To challenge yourself further print off the representation of numbers sheet (listed below), cut these out and then order these. Once you have done all this why not play this game - https://www.topmarks.co.uk/ordering-and-sequencing/chinese-dragon-ordering

Have fun!

History

Over the past few weeks we have been learning about different nurses. We know that these nurses were special people who worked very hard to make people better. People who work in the hospitals today are very busy looking after patients. If you know someone who works in a hospital why not make them a card to say thank you for the amazing work they do, or make a poster to put in your window to say thank you to these incredible workers. You could also put your card or poster on the Galileo class blog to share with your friends and teachers.

Enjoy your day smiley
