Monday 8th February

Good morning I hope you've had a lovely weekend. We are continuing with our 'Jambo' topic this week and have lots of super activities on our Afternoon activities topic page you will find the link at the bottom of the page.

Have a look at the song and Mrs Rickett's actions and have a practise as we will sing this together at our weekly zoom on Friday! 🎶

We also have a super half term challenge influenced by the inspirational Sir Tom Moore. 💂‍♂️

Phonics

We are so proud of how hard you are all working on your phonics and were super impressed when you joined us last week on zoom to do some phonics. Please carry on watching the sessions each day as they introduce or recap a new sound every day.

Set 1 speed sounds - today's sound is x

Set 1 word time

Set 1 spellings

Set 2 speed sounds - today's sound is ay (this is the start of set 2 sounds)

Set 2 spellings

If you have completed Set 2 sounds please join the Red words 1 lesson and the Hold a sentence 1 lesson.

Reading

Please have a second read of the story you read on Friday - you can also read the story after your chid has read it to model fluent reading. This helps them with the understanding of the story too.

If either of the books are too tricky you can go back to oxford owl and select the sound blending books from the e books menu. Our class login is on Tapestry.

Handwriting

Today for our handwriting you have a couple of options. I have added below a practise sheet - you can print this off and practise writing the letters. Or you can use the end of a paintbrush or pencil and practise your letter in a more sensory way in flour, salt or shaving foam. If you fancy something different and have some playdough at home you can follow the link and join in with a dough disco session. We use this to build strength in the children's hands for writing skills.

Reception maths

Today you are 'adding more'. Watch the video and have a go at the activity.

Year 1 maths

Today you are continuing with numbers to 50. Watch the video and have a go at the worksheet.
